Why I Luv Josef Newgarden 2015

I'm Alex and I'm 8.
Josef Newgarden is my favorite driver since I met him when I was 4 because him and his team are always really nice!

This year was my favorite year, because Josef and his team won  two races!!!!
It was also my very favorite Indycar year because Josef's team was extra nice to me at Pocono this year when I sat outside his garage for over an hour watching them work.

First, I went in Josef race car!
(I was so excited my legs were shaking)

Next, I wore his helmet while in his car!

Finally, I wore his helmet, sat in his car and got a selfie with Josef!!!

All thanks to Josef's really nice crew chief, Anton Julian!

I also got to go into the CFH Racing trailer and meet Sarah Fisher!!!
She was really nice too.

In September we went to the DW Pro Am and Robopong Kart race and I got to see and talk to Josef and Anton even more!
(Anton is from New Zealand just like Scott Dixon so he was part of Scott and Josef's pit crew when they finished 2nd in Robopong.)

 Now I can't see Josef
until Indy next May,

but I can mail him a lot!!!

Josef Newgarden update. Sonoma.

Josef did really well in qualifying
and started 2nd to Sonoma master, Will Power.

cool photo from racer.com

He ran second most of the first half of the race, even after Simon Pagenaud briefly trapped him in his pit box by stopping to let Will Power out. (I really like Pagenaud, but I was not happy about that).

Josef ran second behind Scott Dixon for a while too, but then Josef had a bad pit stop.  He stalled the car and then there was a fire and then he ended up a lap down.

He finished 21st in the race and 7th in the Indycar season final points standings.  I think he was as high as fourth in points at one time in the race!

I'll miss watching him racing but I like that he posts to twitter sometimes so I still get to see him during the offseason.

Alex's Josef Newgarden Update Pocono

Josef had a great racing weekend at Pocono.

He started 4th, finished 2nd and moved up to 6th in season points.

But none of that really mattered by the end of the race.

I hope Josef does really well at the final in Sonoma this weekend, but I more just want him to stay safe.

Josef Newgarden Update Mid Ohio 2015

Josef made another appearance in the Firestone Fast Six and qualified 5th.
He led laps in a race for the 6th time this season.
He had a great shot at finishing on the podium.
But, then a late caution came out and he ended up finishing 13th.

It's really fun watching him run up front and be contending for a win at almost every race.

Mid-Ohio Qualifying Results
Now on to POCONO!!!!
Where Josef has finished 5th and 9th.
So he can definitely get another win there.

And the best part is I get to go see Josef
because it's only an hour from my house!!!!

And here is a really neat video Josef did for Forza.

Josef Newgarden Update Milwaukee Indyfest

His First Indycar Pole!!!

He led 109 laps and finished 5th.
He is still 9th in the Indycar season points standings.

Josef drove the Direct Supply blue & black car.

Before the race Josef had fun touring Milwaukee and making a video about it!

Next up Iowa on Saturday, July 18th.

Josef finished 2nd there last year
and won the Indylights race there  in 2011.

Josef update Fontana

Josef started 12th and finished 21st

He hadn't been running too well all race, but had moved up to 12th before getting caught in a wreck with his teammate (and boss) Ed Carpenter.

Apparently since finishing poorly at Fontana Josef has to now help build his own helmets.

Indycar goes to Milwaukee next and Josef finished 5th there last year, so hopefully he can do at least that good this year!

Josef update Texas Motor Speedway

Josef started 14th and finished 22nd.
So there's really not a lot to write.
The team couldn't get either of the CFH Racing cars right all weekend. Ed Carpenter finished 23rd.

Luckily Josef is still in a good mood and ready to do great in Toronto. And he is still 8th in the Indycar season point standings!

Josef Newgarden Update. Detroit race 1

Josef started 18th and finished 8th.

After hitting the wall in practice on Friday and causing a red flag in qualifying (that cost him his two fast laps), it was a crazy race day with lots of rain and Josef being bumped a lot on track.  It's good he could finish 8th.

A photo posted by Josef Newgarden (@josefnewgarden) on

JOSEF NEWGARDEN, NO. 67 HARTMAN OIL CHEVROLET, FINISHED 8TH: “It was a good test of our perseverance and ability to fight through. I saw the Hartman Oil guys more times than I wanted to in the pits,  but they were always ready and did a great job getting me back out. When you walk away with a top 10 on a crazy day like this, it’s not too bad. It’s difficult to predict what’s going to be happening within those rain segments, but we made the best calls we could at the time. That’s all you can do as it’s a gamble every time. Some guys it worked out for, some guys it didn’t. We obviously want to win, but getting a Top 10 is something we can be happy for today and go try and win a race tomorrow.” -- from the CFH Racing page

Newgarden-Detroit-Quals
It's his fifth Top Ten finish in 7 races this season.
He is still 6th in Indycar season points.
