Josef Newgarden Offseason Videos

We will admit, the reason we became Josef Newgarden fans after meeting him in his rookie season was his Incognito videos that he shot around 3 tracks on Indycar race weekends before anyone recognized him as an Indycar driver.

Actually, that's not quite true, since our little sister, Alex, watched those 3 videos over and over and over, a lot, and as funny as they were, we were a bit burned out on Josef.
Lucky for us, he continued to make more videos over his subsequent seasons in Indycar, so now there are plenty of 'Josef videos' to choose from and Alex doesn't watch any one too many times in a row.

So it seems that this offseason Josef has some free time and lucky for all of us fans he has been making quite a few new very funny videos.

His campaign #Shirts4Sage, his public service announcement for fellow Verizon Indycar Series driver, Sage Karam, is awesome.

And then there's this.... we just don't know what to make of it, although it makes our dogs bark when they hear it.

Josef update Fontana

Josef started 12th and finished 21st

He hadn't been running too well all race, but had moved up to 12th before getting caught in a wreck with his teammate (and boss) Ed Carpenter.

Apparently since finishing poorly at Fontana Josef has to now help build his own helmets.

Indycar goes to Milwaukee next and Josef finished 5th there last year, so hopefully he can do at least that good this year!

Josef update Toronto

Yaaaaay!
(: Two times already this season! :)

We didn't get to watch the start of the race because it was my (Josef themed) birthday party.  I had emailed him Friday and told him he better be leading when I turned on the race halfway thru...and HE WAS!!!!

But, my brother and I couldn't watch the last 3 laps because the rain made us nervous and we were worried he might slide.

Josef started 11th, and got a great break when the yellow came out for a crash when he was in the pits.  It gave him the lead and he drove really really great and led most of the way to the end!!!

And what made his win even better was that his teammate, Luca Filippi finished 2nd!
It was Carpenter Fisher Hartman Racing Team's first 1 -2 finish!

Josef Newgarden Update. Detroit race 1

Josef started 18th and finished 8th.

After hitting the wall in practice on Friday and causing a red flag in qualifying (that cost him his two fast laps), it was a crazy race day with lots of rain and Josef being bumped a lot on track.  It's good he could finish 8th.

JOSEF NEWGARDEN, NO. 67 HARTMAN OIL CHEVROLET, FINISHED 8TH: “It was a good test of our perseverance and ability to fight through. I saw the Hartman Oil guys more times than I wanted to in the pits,  but they were always ready and did a great job getting me back out. When you walk away with a top 10 on a crazy day like this, it’s not too bad. It’s difficult to predict what’s going to be happening within those rain segments, but we made the best calls we could at the time. That’s all you can do as it’s a gamble every time. Some guys it worked out for, some guys it didn’t. We obviously want to win, but getting a Top 10 is something we can be happy for today and go try and win a race tomorrow.” -- from the CFH Racing page

It's his fifth Top Ten finish in 7 races this season.
He is still 6th in Indycar season points.

Josef Update. GP of Indy

Josef's GP of Indy went ugly in the first turn.

Alex does not like to do these posts after he has a bad race, so we will make it brief.

Josef qualified 12th and finished 20th.

Josef got caught up in a first turn crash started by Helio (we still love him though).  All he needed was for a yellow to come out so that he could catch up to the end of the field, but just like last year's GP of Indy, the yellow never came for him and he ended up going a lap down.

Luckily he is still 7th in Indycar season points.

And now moving on to the Indy 500.

Hopefully Ed Carpenter can share some of his secrets on winning the pole with Josef (Ed has won the last two Indy 500 poles).

Good Luck in Indy 500 Qualifying Josef!
