The #2 car driven by Juan Montoya

will start the ABC Supply 500 in 2 days

with a slim lead of just 9 points in the Indycar championship.

 

As the defending Pocono winner and with an average finish of 3rd in 500 mile races, he seems to be an easy bet to come out of the weekend still in the lead.

 But Graham Rahal is on a roll, coming off a win at his home track at Mid Ohio.   He will no doubt have a lot of support in the mountains of Pennsylvania from fans eager to see the second generation Indycar driver go for the championship. 

So things may not be as predictable as they seem.

 

 

 

 

 

Montoya returned to Indycar last year and won at Pocono

in his first ever Indycar start at the Tricky Triangle.

He finished 2nd behind teammate Juan Montoya last year,

and 8th in 2013 so a good finish is to be expected.

 

Indycars at Pocono in 4 DAYS

 

 

The #4 KV Racing car

will be driven by rookie Stefano Coletti

at Pocono Raceway this weekend.

 

 

 

Despite having never raced at Pocono before,

he does have his best Indycar finish of 8th on another

2 1/2 mile superspeedway earlier this year, in the Indy 500.

KV Racing's best finish at Pocono was 11th
with Simona DiSilvestro in 2013. 
Tony Kanaan finished 13th for KV that same year. 
Last year KV's drivers Sebastian Saavedra and Sebastien Bourdais finished 15th and 16th.
 

 

It would be great to see Stefano have a good finish at Pocono

after he's had a pretty rough rookie season.

1. Brandon Igdalsky is the coolest Indycar track president
(the track was built by his grandparents, Joe and Rose Mattioli in the early 1970's)

2.  It's the Tricky Triangle...there's only 3 turns!!!
(the turns were patterned after 3 great Indycar tracks. Turn 1, Trenton; Turn 2, Indianapolis; and turn 3, the Milwaukee Mile)

3.  We have 2 Local Drivers who could win the race at their home track,  Marco Andretti and Sage Karam!

4.  They're 'green' and they rent sheep to come mow their solar farm (How cool is that...they're really cute)

5.  Four and Five wide on the Front Stretch!!

6.  And it's this much fun...

8 Days till one of our local drivers,
Sage Karam,

gets a chance to win at his home track
 in Long Pond, PA at the ABCSupply 500!

 

It will be the first Indycar start at Pocono for Sage driving the #8 car for Chip Ganassi Racing.

He finished 2nd in Indy Lights there in 2013.
 

 

Can he best his first podium, a 3rd place finish at Iowa?

Can he catch Gabby Chaves in the Indycar Rookie of the Year standings?  He is currently 49 points back, but with Pocono and double points at Sonoma maybe he can still pull it off.

#9 Scott Dixon has two Top Fives

in his two visits to the Tricky Triangle in Pennsylvania.

 

A first in 2013 that turned his season around and began his successful run at his third Indycar Series title and a fifth in 2014.

 

 

 

Dixon still has a great shot at winning his 4th Series title.

He currently sits 3rd in points and
is 34 points back from leader Juan Montoya.


We can't wait to see how Dixon does this year at Pocono!

In just 10 Days

#10 Indycar Driver Tony Kanaan

will be driving in his 309th Indycar race

when the green flag flies at Pocono Raceway.

 

He led the most laps (78) in the 2014 race at the Tricky Triangle, until he had to pit with just a few laps remaining. 

He ended up finished 11th.

 

He also led 15 laps in the 2013 race before finishing 13th.

 

 

 

 

With consistency and 5 Top Five finishes this season, can Kanaan avoid pitfalls at this year's ABC Supply 500 to get the 18th Indycar victory of his career?

Sebastien Bourdais, #11, currently sits 6th in Indycar season points.  With 2 wins and 8 Top 10's he's having his best season since Champ Car in 2007.
With two races to go can he finish the Indycar season in the Top 5?

Bourdais has been consistent at Pocono...
unfortunately, it had not been in a good way. 
He has finished 16th in his previous two attempts at the Tricky Triangle.

He has qualified well at the track, 7th in 2013 and 4th in 2014 but he needs to stay in the race till the end.

To take the season points lead away from Juan Pablo Montoya Graham will need much better results than he's had in his previous two trips to the Tricky Triangle.

 

 

He finished 18th in 2013 and

19th in 2014 when he spun in Turn 2 on lap 157

to bring out the only caution of the race.
