Notes from GP of Baltimore

Pit Lane along Camden Yard....very cool!

*  Scott Dixon won the pole on the final lap of qualifying, beating Will Power, Simon Pagenaud, Justin Wilson, Josef Newgarden and rookie Tristan Vautier.

*  Tony Kanaan will make his 212th consecutive Indycar start breaking Jimmy Vasser's record.

*  Stefan Wilson will be making his Indycar debut teaming up with his brother Justin at Dale Coyne Racing.

Stefan was very nice and signed our hats on Friday.
Thank you Stefan & Good Luck!

*  Lots of airborne cars during practice and qualifying should make for some interesting racing Sunday!

*  Turn 6 was repaved on Friday night to try to smooth it out.

Behind the scenes in Indycar

We've been doing our blog since April, and we've started to notice how many people work 'Behind the Scenes' to keep Indycar going.

We wanted to learn more about what kind of work people do, and when we researched, we found out that there's...

Engineers
Journalists
Mechanics
Welders
Sponsors
Track workers
Trailer drivers
Photographers
People who run Fan Fest...
and a whole lot more!

And... since we found it really interesting, we've decided to  start an Indycar interview series!

We can't wait!

Now we just need to find some people to interview so we have something to write about.

So far in our 'Indycar journey' we've already met some really nice people like journalists, drivers, track owners, crew members and even drivers, so we're hoping we'll be able to gets lots of really great interviews and interesting stories to share on our blog.

So Stay Tuned
as we hope to take you

Behind the Scenes in Indycar!

We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Please, before watching it, make sure you read what "ingredients" are mixed in so you may know whether to laugh (Yes) or cry (No) while watching it.

* Silliness        * Cuteness

* Cheering        * Excitement        * Cool music

and of course, Alex's favorite driver, Josef Newgarden.

Hinchcliffe can't live without...

In a Toronto Life newspaper article, James Hinchcliffe wrote down in his own words what he can't live without, here are a few of them.

My onesie pajamas
I’ve wanted a pair of these forever. Last year, Kirsten (His girlfriend) finally got me some. They’re the full deal: red flannel, bum flap and everything. When you’re hanging around the house on a Sunday, there’s nothing better to have on.

My lighters I’ve been collecting lighters since I was a kid. I have about 80 of them now (just to look at—I don’t smoke). My favourite is from WWII. I love thinking about where it’s been, whose it was and what happened to him.

My hero’s steering wheel It’s from Greg Moore’s first race car, which he used before he made it big on the CART circuit, and it’s signed. I met him after a race in Toronto in ’99. I stood outside his trailer for hours before he finally came out.

News Flash

Thumbs up:
* Glad to see that J.R Hildebrand will be driving the number 98 Barracuda Racing car at Sonoma and Fontana.  It'll be his first start since the Indy 500.

* For the first time since his breaking his wrist at Toronto, Ryan Briscoe is back in the #4 Panther Racing car for Sonoma.

Thumbs Down:
* Indycar points leader, Helio Castroneves crashed in Brazil while practicing in a stock car and cut his leg, and had reported back and neck pains. Luckily he will still be able to race at Sonoma.

* We'll miss seeing Alex Tagliani in the 98 car.

Franchitti and Dixon at the Grocery Store?

Vrooms, Anyone?

Walking through a discount grocery today and who did we spy on a stack of cereal boxes but Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon.

There also was another Target Ganassi Driver and Indy 500 winner (2000) pictured, but since he doesn't race Indycars anymore we didn't buy his box of cereal.

Funny.

The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio

What's going on at Mid-Ohio?

* Ryan Hunter Reay won his third pole of the 2013 season and will start P1 in Sunday's Honda Indy 200.

* Another strong start to the weekend for Ganassi weekend with all three of their cars in the top 5.   The top 6 are Hunter-Reay, Will Power, Scott Dixon, Marco Andretti, Charlie Kimball and Dario Franchitti.

* Rookie Luca Fillipi (driving in his first ever Indycar race) had the fourth fastest lap in Group 1 qualifying but didn't advance because he had a minor crash which stopped the qualifying session.  Indycar rules state that if a driver causes a halt to a session he lose his fastest two laps.
He will start 24th.

* Another Indycar rookie, James Davison will start 17th driving in his first Indycar race.

* You can watch the Honda Indy 200 at Mid Ohio live on NBC Sports Network live at 3:00 today.

*  Tune in to NBC Sports a little earlier at 2:00 to watch 20 year old Gabby Chaves start on his first pole at the Indy Lights Mid Ohio race. (The race takes place at noon today.)
