2017 Indycar GP of Alabama

Josef Newgarden repeated his 2015 race winning drive at Barber Motorsports Park, giving him his first win driving for Roger Penske!



 Will Power sat on the pole and dominated much of the race before a punctured tire forced him to pit with just over a dozen laps remaining.  Newgarden inherited the lead and held off a hard charging Scott Dixon.

1. Josef Newgarden:  His first win in just his third start for Penske Racing gives him the fourth Indycar victory of his career.
2. Scott Dixon: Worked hard trying to chase down Josef Newgarden but ended up with his 5th second place finish in 8 races in Alabama.
3. Simon Pagenaud:  Relegated to saving fuel in the closing laps the defending race winner had to settle for 3rd.
4. Helio Castroneves: His 5th Top Five in 8 starts at Barber.
5. Alexander Rossi: His best finish this season.
6. James Hinchcliffe: Ties his best finish at Barber (from 2016 and 2012).
7. Tony Kanaan: His first Top 10 this season.
8. Sebastien Bourdais:  Retains his points lead for Dale Coyne Racing.
9. Takuma Sato:  His first Top 10 in eight races at Barber.
10. Mikhail Aleshin: His best finish since Pocono 2016.

Zach raced clean all day and ran as high as fourth.
We can't wait to see him run in the 101st Indy 500 next month and hope to see him in many more Indycar races in the future!

ANOTHER ROUGH DAY for
Marco Andretti couldn't get the car out of first gear to start the race and ended up running around the whole race 3 laps down.
